“Satan builds synthetic truth and proceeds to persecute it the more to make it flourish.” — Helen Peters, The Union Jack

The Language of Deception

by Bobby Garner
February 23, 2009

Deceivers all speak a common language. Its the language of the liar. There is no such thing as a religious deception, or a secular deception which stands uniquely separate and apart from all other deceptions. The common theme which binds them is their need to subvert the truth. The common method is the substitution of a lie in its place. A steadfast belief in the lie is the invariable result. Deception is not an event such as turning a light off or on. Deception is a process involving an active spirit of cooperation between two or more individuals and/or groups.

The deceiver presents his case as mutually beneficial knowing that if he is successful he will be the big winner. The target believes he is acquiring something of considerable value which would be very difficult or impossible to possess by any other means.

Any successful historical deception could be chosen to serve as an example of the process. Or, any intelligent author could write a story in allegory to illustrate the process. It makes no difference how you slice it or dice it, deception can be accomplished only by following a strict set of rules. There are no shortcuts, and it doesn't involve magic or the casting of any spells. What is required on the part of the deceiver is the abandonment of all principles of right and wrong. All it needs to succeed is a complaisant target willing to participate in the transaction in order to satisfy a selfish desire.

I have selected the bible account of the deception of Eve which is obviously written in allegory (serpents are mute creatures, they don't really speak), simply because all of the non-essentials were already eliminated by the author. It is published in every known language, and is widely accepted as our oldest surviving historical document. Do your own comparison with any other successful deception, and after you have weeded out all of the extraneous details, what you will have left over are the essential components of deception.

My purpose at congregator.net has been from the beginning, to study, understand, and expose deception. To discover its methods, its motives, its objectives, its originators, and its prime purveyors.

I began in 1994, even before I went online, with a detailed study of Genesis chapter three, and proceeded with dictionary definitions of key words associated with deception. I compiled my initial findings from notes in "The Tools of Deception".

The importance of the Genesis account is it brevity. The entire deception process is concisely stated in just the first six verses of chapter three. Omission of the finer details allows the process to emerge for anyone who thinks to look for it.

1a And the serpent was cunning above every animal of the field which Jehovah God had made.

cunning - 1: dexterous or crafty in the use of special resources (as skill or knowledge) or in attaining an end <a cunning plotter> 2: displaying keen insight <a cunning observation> 3: characterized by wiliness and trickery <cunning schemes> 4: prettily appealing
Synonyms clever , adroit , cunning , ingenious mean having or showing practical wit or skill in contriving. Clever stresses physical or mental quickness, deftness, or great aptitude. Adroit often implies a skillful use of expedients to achieve one's purpose in spite of difficulties. Cunning implies great skill in constructing or creating.

Some bible translations use the word cautious - marked by or given to caution
Synonyms cautious, circumspect, wary, chary mean prudently watchful and discreet in the face of danger or risk. Cautious implies the exercise of forethought usually prompted by fear of danger.

1b And he said to the woman, Is it true that God has said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?

Using what we learned from an analysis of the serpents dominant character, we can see that he drew on his "special resources" (he knew what God had said), and used his "skill in constructing or creating" to prompt Eve to consider a loaded question. God had not said "You shall not eat from any tree of the garden". A loaded question is a logical fallacy which is used to trick the respondent into admitting something that the questioner believes or pretends to believe to be true.

Eve demonstrates that she knows the truth.

2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,
3 but of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.

Even though she repeated God's words nearly verbatum, the very fact of her willingness to entertain the bogus question, demonstrates far more then a knowledge of the truth. It reveals to the serpent a certain quality of complaisance in giving his bogus question any consideration at all.

complaisant - 1: marked by an inclination to please or oblige 2: tending to consent to others' wishes.
Synonyms amiable, good-natured, obliging, complaisant mean having the desire or disposition to please. Amiable implies having qualities that make one liked and easy to deal with. Good-natured implies cheerfulness or helpfulness and sometimes a willingness to be imposed upon. Obliging stresses a friendly readiness to be helpful. Complaisant often implies passivity or a yielding to others because of weakness.

Answering a loaded question is a sure sign of weakness from the serpents perspective. One possessing and capitalizing on his traits of cunning would never do such a thing. Complaisance means that tacit approval is granted by simply going along with the deceiver.

4 And the serpent said to the woman, Dying you shall not die,

The serpent has just interjected a new idea suggesting that death is not at all what Eve had understood it to be. God had offered no explanation because none was needed. Death was all around Adam and Eve, because animals and plants died as a matter of routine. So, they knew and understood the meaning of death. God is not a trickster. That is the domain of the serpent, and he has just demonstrated that he is the consummate liar.

Deceivers always offer something which is impossible or very difficult to obtain, very rare or expensive, or is not available from any other source.

5 for God knows that in the day you eat of it, even your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

Is this another lie about the Almighty God, or is the serpent applying the title of 'God' to himself? God's name is specifically stated in the original Hebrew text in the form of the tetragramaton known in Jewish tradition as “Ha’shem” (The Name), in English YHWH(Yahweh)or JHVH (Jehovah).

Its a case of duplicity - 1: contradictory doubleness of thought, speech, or action ; especially: the belying of one's true intentions by deceptive words or action 2: the quality or state of being double or twofold.

Could we say that the serpent spoke with a forked tongue?

We know from the Eve influence today that the serpent (Lucifer) is who they mean when such titles as 'God' or 'Source' are preferred over his actual name. God's name in English is Yahwah or Jehovah. The uncertainty is due to the fact that the original Hebrew does not have any vowel characters. The vowel sounds were inserted by the reader from his knowledge of the spoken language. But in time they became superstitious and fearful of mis-pronouncing it, and read instead titles such as Adhonia (Lord) and Elohim (God). The same rules of pronunciation apply as is widely understood and practiced in other names written in the same language. Names such as Jeremiah, Josuah, and Jacob for instance.

Why is the name Jehovah hated today with such intensity?

6 ¶ And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and the tree was desirable to make one wise. And she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

The act of reaching out and taking and eating of the fruit resulted from complaisance, and causes complicity. Complicity means "association with, or participation in, or as if in, a wrongful act". A complicit person is prosecuted as a criminal in any court where the ideals of justice are defended and upheld. Consequently:

And Jehovah God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all beasts, and above every animal of the field. You shall go on your belly, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

He said to the woman, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception; you shall bear sons in sorrow, and your desire shall be toward your husband; and he shall rule over you.

And He said to the man, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree about which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat from it, the ground shall be cursed because of you; you shall eat of it in sorrow all the days of your life. And it shall bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat the plant of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until your return to the ground. For you have been taken out of it; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return. - Genesis 3:14-19

God said they would die, and so they did, and so do we (Gen. 2:17). There is nothing here to suggest that God caused their death. He simply foreknew what the outcome would be, and now after thousands of years, we also know, and the serpent knows, and so do his Hierarchy of associates, and human agents.

Jesus provided us with the key to understanding this and much more. The key to understanding is a special inner sense of sight and hearing. Not the magical stuff of demonic inspiration which masquerades as "revealed truth". Revealed truth is always subjective. That is it comes from belief in a desired outcome. Whereas the real genuine Truth comes as the result of dedicated effort to those who have a genuine curiosity based on an honest desire to know the Truth regardless of the consequences.

And coming near, the disciples said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? And answering, He said to them, Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, but it has not been given to those. For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have overabundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. Because of this, I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. - Matthew 13:10-13

Those who lacked the eyes and ears of understanding harbored a false belief in the re-establishment of a "King of the Jews" in their lifetime who would free them from Roman oppression. Therefore, what they saw and heard in Jesus' parables was self limited to those strict confines. Consequently, "seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear", and they did not understand. So, because of wrong expectations, not only was more not given them, but even what they had (their nation under Roman rule) was taken from them, and their temple destroyed along with their genealogical records.

His disciples on the other hand understood the true meaning due to a genuine desire to know the truth, even after it was understood that it would include the wrongful death of Jesus.

Selected quotes from The Union Jack:

We must be careful that it is not the language but the thought which is conveyed that determines our understanding.

By substitution and juggling, the conventional and ordinary sense of our language betrays us.

So again, it is not always the language of Christianity that identifies the spirit of Christ, but more often than not, it is used to veil thought expressions which are contrary to the Word of God.

Through a dual meaning of language and symbolism, the Masonic Order is used to carry out a systematic betrayal of it's own fraternal brothers, while at the same time it uses them in their own betrayal.

It [Freemasonry] hesitates not to employ that Holy Book in order to conceal it's own falsehoods and idolatries and to deceive and mislead it's over-confiding disciples. It calls things by their opposites. It substitutes legends for facts, expresses legendary lore and pagan myths in the language of Holy Scripture.

There is truly nothing new under the sun, and deception continues to be practiced now as it has always been. The best deceivers now as always are the best liars who speak a language of familiar words which are generally unquestioned by their unsuspecting targeted audience. Its the language of deception, and we tend to fall for it for selfish reasons, which makes us complicit in the crime.
